Renal Artery Stent

Renal arteries are also affected by cholesterol deposition resulting in blockages building up and reducing blood flow to the kidneys. It has been postulated that this may induce the kidney to secrete substances that ultimately increase the blood pressure. One way to treat this narrowing is to deploy a metal stent like a coronary stent to widen the passage for blood to flow to the kidney. This may assist in reducing the blood pressure, but there is no guarantee that this technique will actually reduce blood pressure.
