He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Manipal University/Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and post graduate Master of Surgery (MS) at the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India in 2005. Over the following years he undertook his Internal Medicine training and ultimately, completed his Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Jefferson University Medical College/Christiana Care Health System, Newark, USA in 2016. This is where he was exposed to a range of interventional and structural cardiac procedures, involving himself in all facets of patient care. He gained competence in adult echocardiography, cardiac CT reporting, nuclear cardiology and TOE procedures. During this time, he coauthored publications in Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC) and others. He has presented at various national (in USA) and international cardiology conferences (such as European Society of Cardiology Congress).
After completing his cardiology fellowship, he worked as an invasive consultant cardiologist in regional Maine, USA for a few years, where he spearheaded the heart failure clinic to reduce hospital admissions and was part of quality improvement and patient safety committee. He then decided to move to Australia to be with his family and initially worked in Queensland.
A position at Bundaberg Base Hospital consolidated and advanced his experience working in regional Australia where he developed a Cardiology Rapid Access Clinic and introduced several measures to reduce hospital waiting times, He is a fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a member of CSANZ, American Society of Echocardiography among others.
Happily, Amratash now joins his wife, who is an established local dentist in the community for several years, and his 2 children, to finally make Albury his home. He likes to spend his spare time vacationing with his family, reading non-fiction, playing chess and building toy supercars!
He is available to offer his knowledge and expertise to the local GP and specialist community providing functional testing, clinical consultations and direct in-patient care at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital.
